Peeves:
So I'm in line at the store when the lady in front of me suddenly turns around and recognizes me. Turns out it was my school nurse from elementary school. We has a good convo at the start. She asks about my sisters and what school I'm going to and all that jazz. And then she frowns, looks up at my hair and goes: "So you've cut all your hair off. Now what is that supposed to be?"
Um Excusez-moi? RUDE.
I ignored how unbelievably ugly that was and just replied: "It's called a twist out."
She goes: "Oh. Cute." In a way I knew she def did not think it was cute. What ev. I looked supa flyy today.
Positives:
I got a job!!!!!!! I'm soo excited and glad it happened so quickly because I'm so so so so SO broke. God blesses me more and more with every breath!!!

Girl - get used to those comments! Not saying that they're right, but people will make them. Feel free to give the stank face though! My most memorable comment came from my dad the day I got the BC. He took one look at me and said, "It's gonna grow back right?" LOL I've since forgiven him, and every once in a while when I go home for the holidays, he gives me genuine compliments on my hair.

I've never BC I've been natural my entire life, however I decided to go heatless and where my hair in it's natural state which is a light wavy pattern and I would get comments like oh so you're doing the nappy look or afrocentric lol. I embrace my curls!
ReplyDeleteHa! Thanks for the encouragement I've learned to ignore those kind of comments. I find that they usually come from the older generation. I was working just the other evening when an older woman asked me what was going on with my hair. I just laugh it off now! :)
